Bob Thibodaux's Custom Woodworking - Hand Carved Signs and Name Boards

Welcome to the Bob Thibodaux Custom Wood Working Website. My name is Bob Thibodaux and I'm 55 years old. I am a third generation Robert Thibodaux and a direct descendant of Henry Schuyler Thibodaux, founder of Thibodaux, Louisiana.

I am a wood carver and master craftsman. My Father was the best upholstery man I have ever known. Along with my Mother at his side doing the seamstress work, also the best, both retired now. For what I see coming out of the upholstery shops now, they still are the best.

My Father started me off as a young boy of 10 doing odd jobs around the house as well as in the shop working long hours to get the jobs out on time. We also refinished and repaired furniture, mostly antiques. My Dad also was an established cabinet maker in his own right. My wife Julie of 35 years, works along with me doing the finishing work on our projects. We use only the highest grade materials to build our customers the finest cabinets and furniture their money can buy. The joinery such as mortise and tenons, rabbeting corners, dado's, dovetails and grooving takes time, but to get the very best cabinet or piece of furniture, I think it's the best way to go.

Our reputation is based on quality. My dad raised me on the thought that if you can't do it right, don't do it at all. I pride myself on that phrase.

I also hand carve name boards for the United States Coast Guard Cutters. We do name boards or quarter boards for yachts and signs for businesses. Our signs / name boards are of genuine mahogany, with hand carved lettering. Coatings are of the highest quality enamels and clear coats to weather the storms.
